Hyderabad, Apr 07: Quality Care India Ltd. (QCIL), one of India’s leading healthcare platforms, has announced the signing of strategic agreements with AMPIN Energy and Radiance Renewables under its Group Captive Solar Initiative. The partnerships will enable procurement of renewable solar power for five hospital facilities across Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Maharashtra, marking the first phase of QCIL’s structured transition towards sustainable energy.

Healthcare major QCIL signs solar power pacts with AMPIN and Radiance for multi-state hospital network

The initiative forms part of QCIL’s broader roadmap to transition 19 hospitals under CARE Hospitals and KIMS Health to renewable energy in a phased manner. Phase I covers Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Maharashtra, followed by Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu in Phase II, Kerala in Phase III, and Madhya Pradesh and Telangana in Phase IV.

Hospitals operate in a continuous, high-dependency environment where energy reliability is critical to patient care. In this context, QCIL’s shift towards renewable energy is both a strategic and operational priority, aimed at enhancing energy security, optimising costs, and advancing environmental sustainability.

QCIL is targeting a total renewable energy capacity of approximately 30 MW across its network, with Phase I accounting for around 6 MWp. Over the long term, the company aims to meet nearly 80% of its total energy consumption through renewable sources, supported by a hybrid model combining solar, wind, and battery energy storage systems (BESS).

The transition is expected to deliver an estimated 20% reduction in annual electricity costs, while also improving cost predictability and reducing exposure to tariff volatility—key considerations for energy-intensive healthcare operations.

From an environmental perspective, Phase I is projected to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 8,000 tonnes annually. Upon full implementation, the initiative is expected to offset nearly 40,000 tonnes of carbon emissions per year across all facilities.

The projects are being implemented under the group captive model, which combines long-term renewable power procurement with equity participation. This structure enables QCIL to secure reliable and cost-effective clean energy while ensuring regulatory compliance and long-term supply stability.

Under the agreement, AMPIN Energy will service QCIL’s facilities in Odisha and Chhattisgarh, while Radiance Renewables will execute projects in Maharashtra. Both partners bring strong expertise in delivering renewable energy solutions for large-scale, continuous-load infrastructure.

Commenting on the development, Varun Khanna, Group Managing Director, Quality Care India Ltd., said,

“As we scale our network, sustainability is no longer optional—it is foundational to resilience and efficiency. The Group Captive Solar model allows us to move from being passive consumers of power to active participants in the energy ecosystem, with greater control over cost, reliability, and environmental impact. This marks the beginning of a larger shift to embed sustainability into the core of how we build and operate healthcare.”

This initiative represents the first phase of QCIL’s long-term renewable energy transition strategy, with further phases under evaluation to expand adoption across its hospital network.
