Kolkata, Mar 05: The cast and crew of the much-anticipated folklore thriller “Charak: Fair of Faith” arrived in Kolkata today as part of an extensive promotional tour leading up to the film’s nationwide theatrical release on 6 March 2026. The visit sparked excitement among audiences, media, and digital influencers, highlighting the film’s deep ties to eastern India’s rich folklore traditions.

 Produced by Sudipto Sen, known for his impactful film The Kerala Story, the project has already created significant buzz following the release of its gripping trailer. Directed by Shieladitya Moulik, the film delves into the haunting folklore surrounding the Charak Festival, exploring the darker realities of blind faith and occult rituals.

During a press conference in Kolkata, Sudipto Sen (Producer), Subrat Dutta (Actor), and Bishakh Jyoti (Music Director) shared insights into the film’s concept, research, and creative process. The team engaged with media and audiences about the cultural authenticity, thematic depth, and suspenseful storytelling that define the project.

The Kolkata visit, however, also witnessed protests from demonstrators who blackened promotional posters. The protesters expressed concerns that the film negatively portrays certain festival practices and misrepresents their cultural traditions. Despite these objections, the team emphasized the film’s focus on storytelling and folklore, highlighting its intention to spark meaningful conversations about faith, superstition, and the fine line between devotion and dangerous extremism.

The film features a powerful ensemble cast including Anjali Patil, Sahidur Rahaman, Subrat Dutta, Shashi Bhushan, Nalneesh Neel, Shankhadeep, and Shounak Shyamal, each bringing intensity and depth to the narrative.

Charak: Fair of Faith is presented by PEN Studios, led by Dr. Jayantilal Gada, produced by Dhaval Jayantilal Gada and Sipping Tea Cinemas in association with Sudipto Sen Productions, with Rajesh Bhatt serving as Associate Producer.
