This decision aims to uphold the highest standards of transparency and sanctity in the examination process.

UGC Chairperson M Jagadesh Kumar rCentral Bureau of Investigation (C.B.I.) revealed that 81% of the registered candidates, totalling over 11.21 lakh, had participated in the exam conducted across 317 cities nationwide.

The UGC-NET serves as a crucial examination for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for positions such as ‘Assistant Professor’ and ‘Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor’ in universities and colleges across India. Conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode, the exam’s cancellation comes in the wake of recent concerns over the integrity of national-level examinations.

The cancellation decision follows heightened tension surrounding other national exams, including the NEET UG conducted by the NTA, reflecting broader concerns over the conduct and integrity of competitive exams in the country.
