Mar 11: Lumikai, India’s pioneering venture capital fund focused on interactive media, digital platforms, and gaming, has announced that it is leading a USD 1.5 million seed funding round in NPrep, an AI-powered, video-first learning platform designed to revolutionize preparation for high-stakes nursing entrance examinations and global healthcare careers.

The investment aligns with Lumikai’s thesis of supporting platforms that leverage interactive learning mechanics, AI-driven personalization, and outcome-based feedback loops to improve user engagement and learning outcomes. This marks Lumikai’s third investment in the interactive learning sector following Supernova and Vobble, an AI-first interactive audio platform for children.

India has one of the world’s largest nursing workforces, with approximately 3.2 million registered nurses and midwives and more than 250,000 graduates entering the field annually. Additionally, hundreds of thousands of candidates appear each year for competitive government nursing entrance examinations. At the same time, India is emerging as a major global supplier of healthcare talent while also facing a growing domestic shortage of nurses.

Lumikai Leads Seed Investment in NPrep to Transform Nursing Exam Preparation with AI

Despite the scale of the industry, exam preparation largely remains offline, standardized, and dependent on passive learning tools such as PDFs and recorded lectures. NPrep aims to bridge this gap by providing a technology-driven, personalized learning experience that helps nurses access better-paying opportunities in government hospitals, private healthcare institutions, and global healthcare markets.

The platform currently offers over 1,400 hours of exam-aligned original video content, along with personalized study plans, curated practice questions based on historical exam data, and AI-powered mentorship tools. It also tracks individual performance to improve exam outcomes and support career advancement.

Within just ten months of launch, more than 100,000 nurses across India have already used the platform, collectively consuming over six million minutes of video content and answering 31 million practice questions.

NPrep was founded by Dr. Prince Kaushik (CEO), Dr. Utkarsh Paliwal (CSO), and Dr. Gourav Khurana (COO)—three alumni of All India Institute of Medical Sciences Jodhpur with MBBS degrees. The founding team brings deep clinical expertise and firsthand understanding of the fragmented nature of nursing career preparation in India.

Niyaz Laiq, Partner at Lumikai, said:

“Our investment in NPrep aligns squarely with our thesis of backing founders building interactive platforms with AI-led learning paths to deliver real-world impact. NPrep sits at the powerful intersection of edtech, AI, and interactive learning mechanics to drive superior learning outcomes. As India emerges as a critical supplier of global healthcare talent, outcome-linked preparation platforms present a significant opportunity to create high-value careers in the global economy.”

Dr. Prince Kaushik, Co-Founder and CEO of NPrep, said:

“The edtech industry is being rewritten with AI. Previous approaches were built on traditional coaching models without personalized guidance. At NPrep, we combine AI with the world’s best teaching talent to transform healthcare education and career advancement. Our content is designed from first principles by expert teams of AIIMS nurses and doctors to ensure that every nurse—regardless of their background—has the opportunity to upgrade their career without needing to relocate or leave their current role.”

He added that the new funding will help the company enhance its AI capabilities, expand its reach among nurses, and enable them to access higher-paying opportunities both in India and internationally.

Viren Shetty, Executive Vice Chairman at Narayana Health, said:

“Our partnership with NPrep reflects our commitment to AI-driven education. We are proud to support founders who are building personalized teaching pathways that can transform medical education.”

The funding round also saw participation from existing investor All In Capital, along with Velo Partners, DSP Group Family Office, and several angel investors.

With the backing of leading investors and growing adoption among nursing aspirants, NPrep aims to reshape how nurses prepare for competitive exams and build successful healthcare careers in India and across global healthcare systems.
