Mumbai, April  09: The Birla Institute of Management Technology, a premier business school based in Greater Noida, successfully hosted its flagship annual event, Hermes’ Dialogue 6.0, organized by the PGDM-International Business program. The national-level debate brought together participants representing 12 nations, fostering global dialogue on pressing geopolitical and economic challenges.

IM Rohtak Wins BIMTECH’s ‘Hermes’ Dialogue 6.0’ National Debate on Global Energy Security

 This year’s theme, “Should Countries Prioritize Energy Independence to Ensure Global Energy Security Amid Rising Geopolitical Uncertainty?”, reflected the increasing importance of energy as both an economic resource and a geopolitical tool. The competition witnessed over 250 registrations from leading business schools across India, with a total prize pool of ₹60,000.

The multi-stage competition included an initial knowledge-based assessment, followed by a case submission round, and culminated in a high-stakes final debate where participants represented different countries, simulating discussions akin to global platforms such as the United Nations and G20.

Finalists represented premier institutions including IIM Udaipur, IIM Rohtak, BIMTECH, Shri Ram College of Commerce, IIT Patna, International Management Institute, FORE School of Management, Great Lakes Institute of Management, National Insurance Academy, and NIA Pune.

The event concluded with Team LeBroom from IIM Rohtak emerging as winners. Team Magnus from FORE School of Management secured the first runner-up position, while Team Strategy from Shri Ram College of Commerce finished as second runners-up.

The distinguished jury panel included Mr. Rajeev Kher, IAS (Retd.), Former Commerce Secretary, Government of India, and Mr. Sumanta Chaudhuri, IAS (Retd.), Principal Advisor, International Trade Policy, Confederation of Indian Industry, who evaluated participants on key dimensions of international trade, diplomacy, and policy-making.

Highlighting the significance of the theme, Mr. Rajeev Kher remarked,

“The topic is becoming more relevant every hour, particularly in the context of global negotiations.” Mr. Sumanta Chaudhuri added, “Strategic alliances today may become liabilities tomorrow, and today’s liabilities can evolve into strategic alliances in the future.”

Dr. Prabina Rajib, Director, BIMTECH, emphasized that global energy security must be viewed holistically, encompassing technological innovation, trade policy, and evolving dependencies on critical resources.

Hermes’ Dialogue, a flagship initiative of the Cosmopolitan Club under the PGDM International Business program, continues to serve as a platform that blends experiential learning with critical global discourse. Through such initiatives, BIMTECH reinforces its commitment to nurturing globally aware, responsible leaders equipped to address complex international challenges.

The event also paid tribute to the legacy of the institute’s founders, Late Basant Kumar Birla and Late Sarala Birla, whose vision continues to guide BIMTECH in promoting sustainability, inclusive growth, and academic excellence.
