HORIBA Talent Hunt Scholarship and HORIBA India PG Awards presented to students at the IIT Roorkee

Roorkee, Uttarakhand Mar 17th: A total of 16 students were honored with the HORIBA Talent Hunt Scholarship and HORIBA India PG Awards 2025-26 under HORIBA India’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The HORIBA Talent Hunt Scholarship and Awards Ceremony took place on March 17, 2026, at the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee campus.

HORIBA India, a wholly owned subsidiary of HORIBA, Ltd., Japan, extended a one-time partial tuition fee waiver to 10 UG students from different departments in recognition of their academic excellence. Launched in 2023 with the theme ‘Together We Grow,’ the scholarship program continues to support meritorious UG students at IIT Roorkee. This year the awards have also been extended to PG students under the title “HORIBA India PG Awards” to provide one-time award to 6 meritorious PG students.

Esteemed Dignitaries- Prof. K K Pant, Director- IIT Roorkee, Dr. Rajeev Gautam, Senior Corporate Officer- HORIBA Ltd., Japan, and President- HORIBA India, Prof. R.D. Garg, Dean of Resources & Alumni Affairs (DORA)- IIT Roorkee, and Prof. Anil Kumar, Acting Chairman of the Senate Committee for Scholarship & Prizes (SCSP)- IIT Roorkee, felicitated the recipients during the ceremony.

A visionary initiative led by Dr. Rajeev Gautam- an IIT Roorkee distinguished alumnus awardee and President of HORIBA India, the scholarship aims to ease financial burdens and encourage students to focus on their education, ultimately empowering the future leaders of India. The PG Awards aims to encourage postgraduate students to strive for academic excellence and recognize their outstanding achievements in their respective fields of study.

HORIBA India has also sponsored two projects at IIT Roorkee titled “CO₂ & CH₄ Conversion into High-Performance Carbons.” And Phonon Bandgap Engineering of GaN-Diamond Interface for Power Devices.” To mark this collaboration, Prof. K K Pant, Dr. Rajeev Gautam, Prof. R D Garg, Prof. Vivek Malik, Prof. Ramesh Chandra and Prof. Komal Tripathi exchanged the MOU files.

Prof. K K Pant commended all the awardees for their dedication and urged them to keep striving for excellence in order to achieve greater success. He encouraged students to always remember their alma mater, as it plays a crucial role in their lifelong growth, and to give back to the institute whenever possible. He also thanked HORIBA India Ltd. for funding the Projects- “CO₂ & CH₄ Conversion into High-Performance Carbons.”  And “Phonon Bandgap Engineering of GaN-Diamond Interface for Power Devices”

Dr. Rajeev Gautam strongly believes in giving back to his alma mater, which led him to initiate the HORIBA India Talent Hunt Scholarship in 2023, continuing through 2024, 2025 and 2026. He also welcomed students interested in interning with HORIBA India, encouraging them to reach out to the management for opportunities.

Prof. R.D. Garg expressed his gratitude to HORIBA India for its ongoing initiative. He encouraged students to set ambitious goals, drawing inspiration from the successful alumni of IIT Roorkee.
