The campaign featured engaging road safety sessions that included games, quizzes, and scenario-based discussions designed to help students relate safety principles to real-life situations. The learning-by-doing approach enabled participants to better understand the importance of alertness, discipline, and responsible behavior on the road.

According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) Road Accidents in India 2023 report, Telangana recorded 22,903 road accidents in 2023, placing the state among the top ten in India in terms of total road accidents. These statistics highlight the urgent need for awareness-driven initiatives that encourage safer commuting practices.

All participants actively engaged in the sessions, reflecting on how individual choices and responsible behavior can contribute to safer roads and communities.

HMSI’s road safety initiatives are guided by its global vision, “Safety for Everyone,” which promotes intuitive and age-appropriate learning modules that can be implemented in schools and communities. Across India, the company has conducted numerous structured awareness campaigns supported by its network of Traffic Training Parks and Safety Driving Education Centers, reaching millions through interactive learning formats.

As part of its long-term CSR commitment, Honda announced its global vision for 2050 to achieve zero traffic collision fatalities involving Honda motorcycles and automobiles. In India, HMSI is aligned with the Government of India’s target of reducing road accident fatalities by half by 2030.

A key component of achieving this goal is fostering a positive road safety mindset among children and young adults. By introducing road safety education in schools and colleges, HMSI aims to cultivate a strong safety culture among young people and empower them to become ambassadors of responsible road behavior.

HMSI continues to expand its road safety education programs through 10 adopted Traffic Training Parks and 6 Safety Driving Education Centers across the country, with the initiative already reaching more than 12 million Indians.

The National Road Safety Awareness Program incorporates scientifically designed learning modules delivered by skilled instructors. These include theoretical sessions covering road signs and markings, driver responsibilities, riding posture, protective gear, and safe riding practices.

Participants also received practical exposure through Honda’s virtual riding simulator, which demonstrates over 100 potential road hazards before actual riding. Interactive sessions such as Kiken Yosoku Training (KYT) were conducted to enhance participants’ ability to predict dangers and adopt safer driving behaviors.

Additionally, students and school staff who already ride vehicles had the opportunity to test and improve their riding skills through slow riding exercises and narrow plank riding challenges.

Expanding its digital initiatives, HMSI recently introduced E-Gurukul, an innovative online road safety learning platform designed for children aged 5 to 18 years. The platform offers structured training modules in multiple languages including Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and English, ensuring accessibility and regional relevance.

Through these educational initiatives and community programs, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India continues to strengthen its commitment to spreading road safety awareness and encouraging responsible behavior on Indian roads. By combining awareness with action, HMSI aims to contribute to building a safer and more responsible mobility culture across the country.
