Bengaluru, Mar 10: India’s growth in the coming decades will depend on how effectively universities translate knowledge into solutions for society, industry and government. Reflecting this responsibility, GITAM Bengaluru hosted the CAR 2026 Conclave on Academic Research, organised by the GITAM School of Computer Science and Engineering, from March 4 to March 6 2026.

For more than four decades, GITAM has worked to build an academic ecosystem centred on the pursuit of knowledge guided by honesty, compassion and social responsibility. In recent years, this direction has expanded into multidisciplinary research collaboration and stronger engagement with industry and scientific institutions. CAR 2026 is part of this larger effort to strengthen universities’ role in advancing knowledge that contributes to technological progress and societal development.
The conclave brought together researchers, scientists and industry practitioners to examine emerging developments in computing and related fields and to explore how academic research can respond to real technological challenges. The discussions focused on strengthening the connection between fundamental inquiry industry needs and the development of future talent.
The inaugural session was attended by Dr B Sundar Rajan Professor at the Indian Institute of Science Dr Guru Prasad A S Global Practice Head Mobility at L and T Technology Services and Prof Basavaraj G K Pro Vice Chancellor of GITAM Bengaluru. Faculty leadership from the GITAM School of Computer Science and Engineering including Prof Vamsidhar Y Director of the School Prof I Jeena Jacob Professor in the School and Prof S Arun Kumar Dean of the School also participated in the conclave. Prof Mohan K G served as the Coordinator for CAR 2026.
Over three days the programme featured technical sessions and scholarly exchanges where researchers presented work addressing contemporary developments in computing systems, digital infrastructure, intelligent mobility and related technological domains. The sessions encouraged dialogue between academic researchers and industry practitioners on how research outcomes can move beyond laboratories into practical applications.
Across the world universities are expected to contribute not only to education but also to the creation of knowledge that advances economic development, technological capability and societal progress. India’s national priorities in areas such as digital transformation, infrastructure development and scientific innovation increasingly depend on strong collaboration between universities, research institutions and industry.
Through platforms such as CAR 2026 GITAM continues to build these connections by bringing together researchers, industry leaders and students in a shared pursuit of knowledge and problem solving. By fostering dialogue between academia and industry the university seeks to contribute to the intellectual and technological foundations required for long term national and global progress.
