April 10: As Indian students navigate an increasingly complex and high-stakes study-abroad landscape, their journey is becoming more digital, self-directed, and often more stressful. In this evolving environment, Gen Z learners are turning to creative forms of self-expression—such as dance and short-form video—not only to showcase their aspirations but also to manage pressure, build confidence, and stay motivated.

Recognising this shift, and the rising stress associated with academic preparation, TOEFL (part of ETS) has launched its global TOEFL Dance Stitch Competition—a social-first creative initiative designed to make the study-abroad preparation journey more engaging, expressive, and less overwhelming.
The campaign is currently live on TOEFL’s official Instagram handle and invites students worldwide to engage with a central choreography and reinterpret it in their own style. Participants are encouraged to remix the official Dance Stitch video, perform the core choreography with a personal creative twist, and share their entries on Instagram.
The initiative reflects how Gen Z increasingly uses formats like dance and short-form video to express identity, ambition, and emotion. By integrating these familiar digital behaviours, TOEFL aims to meet students where they are most active and comfortable.
How to Participate
Students can enter the challenge by:
- Following TOEFL’s official Instagram handle
- Remixing the official Dance Stitch video
- Performing the core choreography with their own unique style
- Posting their entry using the hashtags #DanceWithTOEFL and #YouSpeakWorld
Prizes
Top entries will have a chance to win one of five TOEFL tuition awards of up to USD 5,000, paid directly to their educational institution. The competition is open to students and prospective TOEFL test takers exploring international education opportunities.
Entries must be submitted via public social media profiles, in accordance with platform guidelines and applicable regional terms. The deadline for submissions is April 15, 2026, and winners will be announced at the end of April.
At a time when students are facing decision fatigue, digital overload, and performance pressure, initiatives like this reflect a broader shift in how test preparation is being reimagined—moving beyond traditional formats toward more flexible, engaging, and emotionally supportive experiences.
Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Omar Chihane, Global General Manager – TOEFL, ETS, said:
“Today’s students are navigating a far more dynamic and demanding global education landscape, where preparation is not just about academic readiness, but also confidence, clarity, and mindset. As a priority market for ETS, it is important for us to engage students in ways that feel relevant, intuitive, and less overwhelming. The TOEFL Dance Stitch Competition is an extension of this approach—bringing together creativity and purpose, while making the journey towards global education more engaging and accessible.”
Through this initiative, TOEFL invites students across India and around the world to join a growing global community that is redefining how study-abroad journeys are explored, experienced, and expressed.
