World Entrepreneurs’ Day: Industry Leaders Share Insights on Building, Learning and Taking the First Step

At PedalStart, we see it in every batch of applications we receive. The founders who actually go on to build something rarely have the best pitch in the room. They’re usually the ones who already started, in some small way, before anyone told them they could. A rough prototype, a first customer they convinced on their own, a problem they couldn’t stop thinking about even without any validation yet. That’s usually where the real story begins, long before it looks like a startup on paper. 

 

We get to these founders early, while the idea is still rough and unproven, and help them figure out what actually works instead of what sounds good in a deck. A lot of good ideas don’t fail because they were wrong to begin with. They failed because nobody around the founder had done this before and could point that out in time, while it was still cheap to fix.

If I had to give one piece of advice today, it would be this. Don’t wait to feel ready, because that feeling rarely comes on schedule. Find people who’ve already made the mistakes you’re about to make, and let that save you some time and some heartbreak.

Entrepreneurship, to me, has never been about simply building a business. It has been about having the courage to believe in an idea before there is any proof that it will work. When I started my journey, I didn’t have all the answers. What I had was a problem I wanted to solve, a strong belief in what we could build, and the willingness to keep going even when things didn’t go according to plan. Building Tribe Kombucha has been exactly that, a journey of constant learning, unlearning, and adapting.

There are days when entrepreneurship feels incredibly rewarding, and there are days when it tests every bit of your patience and conviction. But I think that is what makes the journey meaningful. You learn to embrace uncertainty, build with limited resources, listen to your consumers, and most importantly, keep moving forward. For me, the real joy lies in creating something that people can believe in and making a meaningful difference through it. Tribe was born from a personal belief that better choices should also feel good, and that belief continues to guide us today.

On World Entrepreneurship Day, I would encourage every aspiring entrepreneur to start before they feel ready. You may not have everything figured out, and you don’t need to. Sometimes, the willingness to take the first step is where the entire journey begins.
