
New Delhi, 19th March,2026: Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL), a leading power utility supplying electricity to a populace of around 9 million in North Delhi, has always been a front runner in delivering the best possible services to its customers by ensuring reliable and uninterrupted power supply. Tata Power-DDL expects the peak load to reach around 2622 MW in summer 2026 from 2410 MW in 2025. To meet the anticipated rise in summer power demand, the utility has made adequate power arrangements of up to 2900 MW and is leaving no stone unturned in gearing up to meet the challenges of the upcoming summer.
To meet this objective, Tata Power-DDL has initiated discussions with key stakeholders, including power generators responsible for supplying electricity, as well as key material suppliers and service providers, to enable reliable power supply by ensuring continued availability of critical equipment and resources across the supply chain. A workshop was conducted recently in New Delhi, where key power generators and Business Associates participated to review preparedness for the upcoming summer season and chalk out plans and deliverables to ensure reliable power supply to consumers.
During the meeting, various options to ensure optimal plant maintenance, particularly of critical components such as boilers, were discussed with generators and long-term power suppliers to support reliable power generation during the peak summer period. The meeting also focused on strengthening coordination with power generation partners, assessing power availability, and discussing strategies to effectively manage the anticipated rise in electricity demand during peak summer months. Discussions also covered effective management of the electrical network in the license area and faster restoration in case of unforeseen faults in the system.
Dwijadas Basak, CEO, Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited, along with senior officials from Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited and representatives from various generation companies, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), and partner organizations, participated in the discussions.
Speaking on the occasion, spokesperson Tata Power-DDL said, “Through close coordination with our generation and business partners, we are strengthening our preparedness to ensure reliable and uninterrupted power supply during the upcoming summer.”
During the meeting, Tata Power-DDL highlighted its proactive planning and operational readiness, including power procurement arrangements, network preparedness, and demand management strategies to maintain uninterrupted electricity supply across its distribution areas. The discussions also covered contingency planning, real-time coordination mechanisms, and measures to enhance system resilience during periods of high demand.
Tata Power-DDL continues to undertake several initiatives to strengthen its network infrastructure and operational capabilities to efficiently meet the growing electricity demand during the summer season.
