BANGKOK, Thailand — OPPO has completed the distribution of 1,000 tablets across five countries in Asia and Africa, fulfilling a commitment made earlier this year in collaboration with UNESCO and children’s programming education brand CODEMAO. The initiative underscores OPPO’s guiding philosophy of “Technology for Mankind, Kindness for the World,” with a focus on advancing educational equity and digital inclusion.

Thailand Pilot Marks Key Milestone

As part of the programme, OPPO recently donated 200 tablets to two pilot schools in Thailand—Lampang Kanlayanee School and Rayongwittayakom School—during the Thailand AI and Digital Innovation Practice Day on December 15. Patrick Zhang, Chief Operating Officer of OPPO Thailand, formally handed over the devices, which will support teachers and students in hands-on programming and digital learning.

The tablets come preloaded with courses from the Youth Coding Initiative, a joint effort by UNESCO and CODEMAO aimed at encouraging safe, inclusive use of technology and expanding access to quality education across Asia and Africa.

Expanding Access Across Asia and Africa

The Thailand donation completes OPPO’s pledge, announced in September 2024, to provide tablets to schools in Thailand, Congo Brazzaville, Kenya, Namibia, and Côte d’Ivoire. Through this collaboration, OPPO and UNESCO are working to strengthen teaching capabilities in emerging technologies—particularly in regions where access to digital tools remains limited.

In countries such as Congo Brazzaville, OPPO tablets and integrated coding curricula will serve as foundational resources for sustainable technology education, complemented by peer learning initiatives and coding competitions designed to nurture young talent. In Kenya, Namibia, and Côte d’Ivoire, where hardware shortages have constrained digital education, the initiative is expected to help establish new digital classrooms and broaden equitable access to technology.

Long-Term Commitment to Youth Empowerment

The partnership reflects OPPO’s ongoing commitment to social responsibility, youth empowerment, and digital inclusion. The company stated it will continue to leverage empathetic technology to create meaningful, long-term impact in communities worldwide.
