The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has extended its ‘UPI One World’ wallet service to international delegates attending the India AI Impact Summit, being held from 16–20 February 2026 at Bharat Mandapam.
With this initiative, foreign visitors from over 40 countries can now make real-time UPI payments in India—without needing an Indian mobile number or a local bank account.
What is UPI?
UPI stands for Unified Payments Interface. It is a real-time digital payment system that allows users to transfer money instantly between bank accounts using a mobile device.
Developed and operated by NPCI, UPI enables:
-
Instant money transfers
-
QR code-based payments
-
24/7 transactions
-
Secure and seamless digital payments
Today, UPI is widely accepted across India—from street vendors and small shops to malls, hotels, and large enterprises.
What is ‘UPI One World’?
‘UPI One World’ is a specially designed prepaid wallet for international travellers visiting India.
Under this facility:
-
Visitors can download the CheqUPI app (by Transcorp).
-
They register using passport, visa, and personal details.
-
A unique UPI ID is generated.
-
The wallet can be loaded using international debit or credit cards.
-
Payments are made by simply scanning UPI QR codes.
-
Any unused balance can be refunded as per foreign exchange rules.
The service is available at New Delhi International Airport and at the NPCI Pavilion during the Summit.
