New Delhi, Mar 11th: Meghalaya is making its first appearance at AAHAR 2026, Asia’s premier food and hospitality trade show. Through this event, the Government of Meghalaya is ensuring that the State’s indigenous organic agricultural and artisanal products reach larger markets, enabling local producers and entrepreneurs to connect directly with food industry players.
Held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, and Co-hosted by the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) and the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), this B2B event provides a strategic platform to integrate Meghalaya’s producers and entrepreneurs directly into the broader industry supply chain.
Meghalaya, a regular at World Food India, is showcasing its food industry potential at AAHAR 2026 for the first time. This strategic step will economically advance the local producers and entrepreneurs. And, beyond unlocking networking opportunities, the participation also targets capacity building, offering local entrepreneurs the opportunity to engage with commercial buyers, branding experts, and the packaging industry to strengthen and scale their operations.
Shri Sampath Kumar, IAS, Principal Secretary, Community & Rural Dev Department and Resident Commissioner, today inaugurated the Meghalaya Pavilion, joined by the delegation from Meghalaya House, New Delhi.
Shri Kumar lauded the Government of Meghalaya, highlighting it as a crucial platform for local innovation. He praised the initiatives launched by the State Government under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Conrad K. Sangma, such as the PRIME incubation program and Meghalaya State Agriculture Marketing Board (MEGAMB), which empower local entrepreneurs to present authentic, high-value products from Meghalaya to the world.
“These kinds of events are very helpful for the entrepreneurs because we can connect our culture and significant values to the rest of the world,” stated Dr. Kumar, extending his congratulations to the young entrepreneurs who are driving the State’s progress.
He also recognized the collaborative efforts of stakeholders such as Meghalaya House Delhi, Meghalayan Age Limited, and other departments, such as the Directorate of Food Processing (DoFP), PRIME Meghalaya, the Meghalaya Natural and Organic Farming Society for Livelihood and Innovation in Agriculture (MEGNOLIA), the Directorate of Horticulture, the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, and the Meghalaya Collectives.
Demonstrating significant industry interest, the Meghalaya Pavilion recorded a footfall of over 1,500 visitors.
Victoria Sohphoh, PRIME Entrepreneur, expressed her gratitude on being a part of the Meghalaya contingent and noted that “I would like to thank the State government for their support in uplifting entrepreneurs under various sectors, and for providing us with the opportunities to take part in such programmes and events, which provides us a platform to showcase our products and our hard work.”
The State’s curated pavilion showcases premium agricultural and artisanal wealth. It features organic spices like Lakadong turmeric, black pepper, organic ginger, millets, and native wild honey. The horticulture inventory includes fresh strawberries, oranges, and pineapple, along with value-added products like natural juices, lemongrass tea, pickles, and traditional handicrafts. Initiatives from DoFP, PRIME Meghalaya, and Meghalaya Collectives back this showcase. This platform promotes trade and ensures regional producers secure essential industry connections for lasting commercial success.
