JSW Group Celebrates the Eco-Friendly Durga Puja Pandals of Kolkata

Kolkata, October 20, 2023 – JSW Group, one of India’s fastest growing conglomerates launches a first of its kind initiative to celebrate the green Durga Puja pandals of Kolkata. The campaign called Bishwadharini Pujo 2023 is driven by the principles of sustainability and eco-friendliness and intends to reshape the way we commemorate this auspicious festival. It is a collaborative effort in association with ABP Ananda and is powered by JSW Paints.

The initiative encourages Puja Committees to celebrate responsibly, prioritizing safety and promoting environmental awareness. 100 Pujo pandals participated in this initiative and were judged on parameters like materials used for the fabrication, prevention of plastic usage, waste management, energy consumption, recycling and other such parameters. 50 Pujos were then shortlisted in the second round of judging from where the top 10 winning clubs were chosen. Some of the judges involved in the judging process were Dr Swati Nandi Chakraborty, Dr Sabyasachi Roy, Dr Sanat Kumar Saha, Subrata Dasgupta and Niladri Das.

On the final awards dissemination day noted environmentalists and green crusaders, Subhas Dutta and Naba Dutta were also part of the initiative along with actors Darshana Banik and Trina Saha.

10. Rajdanga Naba Uday Sangha

JSW Group also partnered with Abin Chaudhuri to craft an immersive artistic map of Kolkata, showcasing the top 50 pandals, artists, experiences, food, and lifestyle, to highlight the city’s cultural richness.
