Mar 11: Pieter Elbers will be stepping down as the Chief Executive Officer of InterGlobe Aviation Limited, the parent company of IndiGo, with immediate effect. The Board of Directors expressed its appreciation for Elbers’ leadership and contributions to the airline and wished him success in his future endeavors.
In the interim, Rahul Bhatia, Managing Director of IndiGo, will assume responsibility for managing the affairs of the airline until the company announces the appointment of a new CEO. The leadership transition is expected to be completed in the near future.
Commenting on the development, Vikram Singh Mehta, Chairman of the Board, said:
“Rahul returns to assume management of the affairs of the airline to strengthen the company’s culture, reinforce operational excellence, and deepen its commitment to delivering exceptional service marked by care, reliability, and professionalism to its customers.”
Speaking on taking on the interim responsibility, Rahul Bhatia said:
“Having founded and nurtured IndiGo for twenty-two years, I feel a deep sense of personal commitment and responsibility towards our nation, as well as towards the airline’s customers, employees, shareholders, and all other stakeholders.”
He further added that the airline will continue to place strong emphasis on culture, service excellence, and stakeholder trust while sharpening its strategic focus on serving India with an airline that remains professionally managed, operationally reliable, and globally respected.
