Mumbai, February 04, 2025: The 25th edition of the iconic Kala Ghoda Arts Festival (KGAF) witnessed history in the making as, for the first time in its Silver Jubilee year, a grand senior showcase hosted by GenS Life took center stage. 40 senior dancers brought alive the dance floor under the eagle eye of the renowned choreographer Sandip Soparrkar and Abhishek Bohara from his team. The audience was treated to a crackling performance by the Mumbai Harmonics, a group of seniors who gather together in public places to play the mouth organ. The event celebrated the vibrancy, talent, and creative spirit of the 60+ community like never before.
The event also marked the official launch of the GenS Life anthem, Kahaani Abhi Baaki Hai sung by the iconic Usha Uthup—a powerful ode to the limitless potential of life after 60. The anthem is but a reflection of the philosophy behind the GenS Life app, a safe online & offline community for the 60+. The performance resonated deeply with the audience, reinforcing GenS Life’s commitment to redefining aging and celebrating life after 60 with renewed passion and purpose.
A Vision for the Future
Meenakshi Menon, Founder of GenS Life, emphasized the larger vision behind the event: “This is just the beginning. GenS Life is on a mission to empower seniors to lead enriched and fulfilling lives. Kahaani Abhi Baaki Hai is more than just a song—it’s a movement, a declaration that life after 60 is full of possibilities. The response from today’s audience has been phenomenal, and we are excited for what lies ahead.”
A Celebration of Talent and Community
The senior showcase featured a vibrant performance choreographed by Sandip Soparrkar, whose passion for movement and inclusivity electrified the stage. Expressing his joy at being part of the initiative, Soparrkar shared, “Age is just a number, and today’s performance was proof of that. The energy, grace, and enthusiasm these seniors brought to the stage were truly inspiring. GenS Life is doing remarkable work in creating opportunities for the 60+ community, and I am honored to have been a part of this journey.”
A Historic Milestone for KGAF
Reflecting on the impact of this groundbreaking event, Dr Anonna Guha, dance curator at KGAF remarked, “In 25 years of the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival, we have seen extraordinary performances, but this senior showcase was truly special. It broke barriers and brought a fresh perspective on aging and artistic expression. We are thrilled to have been part of this historic moment.”
Adding to the celebration, Mumbai Harmonics, a group of senior musicians who play the harmonica, captivated audiences with soulful melodies, proving that music has no age. Dilip D’Souza from Mumbai Harmonics stated, “I’m so grateful to GenS Life and Kala Ghoda for this opportunity. We Mumbai Harmonics guys meet regularly and we play for each other, but it was nice to play for another
audience and be appreciated for what we played. It was a joyful occasion and that’s what we go for as well, we like to think our music brings joy to people and that’s what we really like to do. We’re not professional musicians but we love to do what we do, and we love it when people have smiles on their faces when we do it.”
The event concluded on a high note, with the crowd joining in the chorus of Kahaani Abhi Baaki Hai, dancing, clapping, and celebrating the undeniable truth that the best stories are yet to be written.
