
New Delhi, Feb 06: Dr Bishnu Prasad Panigrahi, Group Head – Medical Strategy and Operations, Fortis Healthcare, has been honoured with the Lifetime Achievement in Healthcare Award at the 16th MT India Healthcare Awards 2026, held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The award recognises Dr Panigrahi’s decades-long contribution to the healthcare sector and his role in strengthening clinical governance, patient-centric care, and healthcare delivery systems in India, while also honouring professional excellence and a legacy of mentorship, integrity, and his service to society.
With a distinguished career spanning over four decades, Dr Panigrahi has played a transformative role in shaping India’s modern hospital ecosystem. He has been instrumental in the strategic planning and commissioning of several landmark tertiary and quaternary care hospitals across the country, including flagship greenfield projects for leading healthcare institutions. His work has consistently focused on building scalable, ethical, and outcomes-driven healthcare models.
At Fortis Healthcare, Dr Panigrahi has led medical strategies and operations across a large multi-hospital network, driving standardisation, strengthening clinical governance, and reinforcing a culture of quality and patient-centric care. He has also played a key role in advancing system-wide best practices and data-driven approaches to improve clinical outcomes. A strong proponent of value-based healthcare, he has contributed to global outcome measurement standards and provided critical leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic, helping shape hospital preparedness and resource optimisation efforts adopted more broadly across the healthcare system.
Beyond Fortis, Dr Panigrahi has made significant contributions to the expansion of tertiary care, medical education, and specialised services, while earlier in his career laying the foundations for several pioneering clinical and institutional initiatives in India.
