Himachal Pradesh, Feb 04: ACC, the cement and building materials company of the diversified Adani Portfolio, through the Adani Foundation, has transformed irrigation access for farmer Sandeep Kumar in Ropa village under the Dhounkothi Watershed Project. By augmenting the efficiency of traditional ‘kuhls’ with 335 meters of cemented RCC channels, the initiative has brought consistency, reduced labour, and improved water use efficiency.
Previously, Sandeep and his family struggled to irrigate their fields due to poor water flow and frequent maintenance. With the new channel in place, they now cultivate a range of cash crops—lady finger, brinjal, turmeric, garlic, and more—boosting their total agricultural income from Rs. 31,600 to Rs. 40,100. The intervention has also saved time and effort, enabling families to focus on other livelihood activities like livestock care.
Through such infrastructure-led interventions, ACC and the Adani Foundation are not only strengthening agricultural productivity but also transforming rural lives. By working closely with local communities, panchayats, and grassroots organisations, they are building resilient villages with improved livelihoods, better access to resources, and long-term sustainable development.
