Noida, Feb 13: The Institute of Management Studies (IMS) Noida successfully concluded its three-day Golden Goal Cup Open Football Tournament, with Goal Hunter lifting the championship trophy after a series of thrilling matches. The final day of the tournament, held at the IMS Noida campus in Sector-62, featured intense quarterfinal, semifinal, and final clashes that kept spectators engaged throughout. The concluding ceremony witnessed the felicitation of the winning and runner-up teams with cash prizes, trophies, medals, and certificates.

Sharing details of the matches, Ms. Reena Massey, Sports Coordinator at IMS Noida, informed that three quarterfinal matches were played. In the opening quarterfinal, Delhi Warriors defeated Bennett University 2–0. DG Warriors dominated Azad FC with a convincing 4–0 victory in the second match. In the third quarterfinal, Goal Hunter delivered an impressive performance, defeating Galgotias University 6–1.

In the semifinals, Golden FC secured a 2–1 win over DG Warriors to book their place in the finals. Meanwhile, Goal Hunter edged past Delhi Warriors with a narrow 1–0 victory to enter the championship round. In the match for third place, DG Warriors outplayed Delhi Warriors 3–1 to claim the second runner-up position. The grand finale between Golden FC and Goal Hunter turned out to be a one-sided affair, as Goal Hunter showcased exceptional teamwork and skill to register a commanding 4–0 win and clinch the tournament title.

In his address, Mr. Rajeev Kumar Gupta, President, IMS Noida, reiterated the institution’s commitment to promoting sports alongside academic excellence. He stated that such competitions instill confidence, discipline, and a strong competitive spirit among students, while also fostering unity and sportsmanship.

Mr. Chirag Gupta, Vice President, IMS Noida, emphasized that sports play a vital role in the holistic development of students by enhancing leadership qualities, teamwork, and physical fitness. He added that platforms like the Golden Goal Cup encourage young athletes to showcase their talent and pursue excellence.

At the prize distribution ceremony, Goal Hunter was awarded a cash prize of ₹11,000 along with the championship trophy. The first runner-up team received ₹7,100 and a trophy, while the second runner-up team was presented with a trophy. All players from the top three teams were also honored with medals and certificates.
