A-League, India’s first recreational cricket league in its 9th year, proudly marks the 5th Anniversary of its GOLD Games initiative, one-of-its-kind weekly cricket initiative exclusively designed for members aged 45 and above.

Started with the vision of promoting physical and mental well-being, camaraderie and competitive spirit beyond standard age brackets, the GOLD games has evolved into a breakthrough initiative in community cricket. The games which began as an opportunity for senior cricket enthusiasts has now grown into a thriving sporting affair, predominantly in the 50+ and 55+ age categories.

A-LEAGUE, India’s first 365-day recreational sports league founded in 2017, has crossed the 8-year milestone completing around 2600 matches and with over 2000 players in the city.

Says Jimmy Mathew, Chief Coordinator, A-LEAGUE By Alaaya Nation, “Our league started 8 years ago but we had a special focus for the 50+ category around 5 years back. When we commenced, playing in the 40s wasn’t a norm, but today playing in the 50s is becoming normal. We would like it to take it to the 60s. We have many Gold members who have played at the state level, coached Ranji teams; their involvement lifts the spirit of our league.”
