The felicitation ceremony for India’s victorious 2024 T20 World Cup cricket team culminated in a grand celebration at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) presented the team with the promised prize money of Rs 125 crore amidst cheers and applause.
Captains Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, along with coach Rahul Dravid and star bowler Jasprit Bumrah, took centre stage to express their gratitude and emotions. Players also interacted joyfully with fans, handing out signed balls, taking selfies, and giving autographs.
Earlier in the day, a triumphant parade led by Rohit Sharma and his team commenced at Marine Drive, winding its way to Wankhede Stadium amid a sea of enthusiastic supporters. Fans thronged the streets, expressing their love and admiration for the players who proudly displayed the T20 World Cup trophy.
The celebration witnessed overwhelming fan participation, with some climbing trees to catch a glimpse of their cricketing heroes. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah and Vice-President Rajiv Shukla were also part of the jubilant scenes, joining players on the victory parade bus.
Virat Kohli, Kuldeep Yadav, and Yuzvendra Chahal carried the Indian flag high, symbolizing the end of a 13-year ICC World Cup drought with their historic triumph.
