20th June 2024- Google has launched its AI chatbot app, Gemini, in India, now supporting nine Indian languages. Previously available only in English, users can now interact with Gemini in Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
To access Gemini on Android, users can download the app from the Play Store or opt-in using Google Assistant. iOS users will be able to access Gemini through the Google app in the coming weeks. Similar to Google’s previous voice assistant, Gemini can be addressed by saying ‘Hey Google’.
The Gemini Advanced version introduces new features, including data analysis capabilities, file uploads, and the ability to chat within Google Messages in English. Beyond India, the Gemini app has also been launched in Turkey, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
Google stated, “The app allows you to type, talk, or even add an image to get the assistance you need.”
