7th June 2024- In the rising rumours regarding the denial of treatment under the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) by certain private hospitals following the change in government, the Odisha administration moved swiftly to allay fears. On Thursday, the government assured BSKY cardholders that they would continue to receive medical care without interruption.
Amidst speculation fueled by the BJP’s announcement of implementing the Ayushman Bharat scheme and replacing BSKY upon forming the state government, concerns emerged regarding the continuity of benefits for patients. Allegations surfaced that some private hospitals were refusing cashless services to BSKY beneficiaries during the transitional phase.
Chief Secretary PK Jena stepped in to address the confusion, reaffirming the government’s commitment to ensuring medical treatment for BSKY cardholders at empanelled hospitals. This reassurance comes as a relief to beneficiaries amidst the changing healthcare landscape in the state.
