New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Dehradun November 8, 2025, to join Uttarakhand’s 25th Foundation Day celebrations. The event will honour the state’s remarkable journey and achievements since its formation. Moreover, the Prime Minister is expected to address the gathering and highlight the government’s commitment to Uttarakhand’s development and progress.

The grand event will begin at 12.30 p.m. and mark 25 years since the formation of the state. During the visit, he will launch several key projects aimed at boosting Uttarakhand’s growth and infrastructure.

The Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for development projects worth over ₹8,140 crore. These include initiatives across multiple sectors such as drinking water, irrigation, technical education, energy, sports, and skill development. Moreover, he will unveil a commemorative postal stamp to celebrate the state’s special milestone.

In addition, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate projects worth more than ₹930 crore and lay foundation stones for new ones worth ₹7,210 crore. The projects aim to strengthen essential services and create new opportunities for the people. Furthermore, he will address the gathering and share his vision for Uttarakhand’s future progress.

Among the key initiatives, PM Narendra Modi will launch the Dehradun Water Supply Coverage Project under the AMRUT scheme. He will also inaugurate an electrical substation in Pithoragarh and solar power plants on government buildings. Likewise, the new AstroTurf Hockey Ground at Haldwani Stadium in Nainital will also be opened.

Additionally, Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stones for two major hydro-sector projects. The Song Dam Drinking Water Project will supply 150 million litres of water daily to Dehradun. Meanwhile, the Jamarani Dam Multipurpose Project in Nainital will provide drinking water, support irrigation, and generate clean energy.

Other planned developments include electrical substations, a Women’s Sports College in Champawat, and a modern dairy plant in Nainital. These projects aim to improve local infrastructure, empower youth, and promote sustainable development. Apart from these, several rural and urban development schemes will also be strengthened during the event.

As part of the celebrations, the Prime Minister will release a financial assistance package of ₹62 crore for more than 28,000 farmers. The funds will be transferred directly into their bank accounts under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. Hence, the initiative will provide critical support to farmers and promote agricultural resilience.

Uttarakhand, formed November 9, 2000, as India’s 27th state, was carved out of Uttar Pradesh. Originally named Uttaranchal, it officially became Uttarakhand in January 2007. The state is often called the ‘Land of the Gods’ for its famous pilgrimage sites like Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri.

Uttarakhand Foundation Day, or Uttarakhand Diwas, celebrates the state’s creation and spirit. The day symbolises unity, pride, and progress. Across the state, people celebrate with cultural events, traditional dances, exhibitions, and parades. Altogether, the celebrations honour Uttarakhand’s beauty, heritage, and unwavering resilience.
