Thiruvananthapuram, September 30, 2026: Kerala’s own internet network, Kerala Fibre Optic Network (KFON), has crossed the significant milestone of two lakh connections. KFON has expanded its services across the state, reaching households, government offices, institutions, businesses and economically weaker families. As per the latest figures, KFON has 2,00,073 connections.
KFON continues to expand its services across urban and rural areas, including remote and tribal regions. Efforts are also underway to provide new connections in connectivity-deprived tribal areas and strengthen the existing network infrastructure.
KFON currently has a fibre network spanning more than 34,505 km and operates with the support of around 3,800 Local Network Providers (LNPs).
Along with internet connectivity, KFON has also expanded its digital entertainment offerings, providing customers access to more than 29 OTT platforms and over 350 digital television channels. The initiative aims to bring high-speed internet, entertainment and digital services together on a single platform.
“KFON was launched with the objective of ensuring quality internet connectivity across government offices and institutions, as well as urban and rural areas, while reducing the digital divide. It is a matter of great satisfaction that KFON has now crossed two lakh connections. With collective efforts, KFON can reach more people and achieve further growth in the number of connections,” said Seeram Sambasiva Rao, Special Secretary, Electronics and IT Department.
