Sept 29: Amity Institute of Biotechnology (AIB), Amity University Noida campus, in association with The Amity Smart Protein Project, organised the Food Bioprocessing & Smart Protein Symposium 2026 on the theme “Innovations Shaping the Future of Sustainable Food”, from 28th-29th September 2026. The symposium brought together academicians, researchers, industry experts and students to discuss emerging developments in food bioprocessing, smart proteins and sustainable food systems.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Surendra Singh Raghav, Director, National Food Laboratory, FSSAI, Ghaziabad, highlighted the importance of food safety, quality assurance and innovation in strengthening the food ecosystem. He stated, “As food technologies continue to evolve, ensuring safety and quality must remain central to innovation. Collaborative efforts among researchers, industry and regulatory institutions are essential to building consumer trust and advancing sustainable food solutions.”
Dr. Parmjit S. Panesar, Professor, Department of Food Engineering & Technology, S. L. Institute of Engineering and Technology, Longowal, Punjab, emphasised the role of food bioprocessing in developing sustainable and value-added food products. He said, “Advances in fermentation, biotechnology and food processing offer significant opportunities to improve resource utilisation, enhance nutritional value and develop innovative food products. Such platforms encourage researchers and students to translate scientific knowledge into practical solutions.”, he added.
Prof. (Dr.) Pooja Vijayaraghavan, Director, Amity Institute of Biotechnology, Amity University said, “Interdisciplinary research and collaboration are vital to addressing the challenges of sustainable food production. By bringing together experts and young researchers, the symposium provides an opportunity to explore innovative approaches and encourage solutions that can create a meaningful impact on society.”
Presenting the India Symposium Highlights Report, Dr. Praveen Dahiya, Head, Centre for Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering, Amity Institute of Biotechnology, highlighted key discussions and emerging insights from the symposium, underlining the importance of research, innovation and industry-academia collaboration in the smart protein and sustainable food sectors.
The symposium also featured Prize Distribution and Felicitation, recognising the contributions and achievements of participants in the various competitions and academic activities. During the two-day Conference, Technical Sessions on “Industry & Academic Perspectives on Next-Gen Nutrition: Smart Proteins, Bioprocessing, and Functional Nutrition”, “Hack the Protein Future”, “Food Bioprocessing to Smart Protein: Science, Scale & Venture Building” and “Protein Unplugged”, along with Panel Discussions, Ideathon competition and poster presentations, were also organized, providing a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration.
