Hyderabad, Sept 25: Vignana Jyothi in association with the Boppana Sarath Gopal Foundation and healthcare partners, organised a Blood Donation Drive and Free Eye Screening Camp on its Bachupally campus, bringing together 4000 students, faculty, staff and members of the VNR VJIET community to promote preventive healthcare, voluntary blood donation and social responsibility.
The four-day initiative was organised with the objective of promoting voluntary blood donation, preventive healthcare and regular eye care, while encouraging young students to actively contribute to socially meaningful causes and community well-being. The drive witnessed the presence of popular Telugu actor Allari Naresh, who visited the VNR VJIET campus to encourage the students and support the initiative.
The blood donation drive saw participation from over 700 students, faculty members and staff members, with 742 units of blood collected in a single day. The drive aimed to encourage voluntary blood donation among young people and create greater awareness about the importance of contributing to community healthcare needs. The eye screening initiative witnessed participation from 3500 students, 500 faculty members and staff members, highlighting the growing importance of preventive eye care among young adults. With students spending extended hours on digital devices, regular eye examinations can help identify vision-related concerns at an early stage and enable appropriate medical guidance and care.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Boppana Tarachand, Director, Boppana Sarath Gopal Foundation, said, “Blood donation is a noble act through which each of us can make a meaningful difference and help save lives. It is particularly encouraging to see the students of VNR VJIET come forward in such large numbers. The contribution of 742 units of blood is a remarkable reflection of their social responsibility and commitment to the community.”

The overwhelming participation of our students, faculty and staff in the eye screening and blood donation initiatives reflects this ethos.”
The Free Eye Screening Camp, conducted from September 21 to 24 in association with Sankara Eye Hospital, Hyderabad, was followed by the Blood Donation Drive on September 24. The 4-day eye screening camp provided professional eye screening and guidance to students, faculty and staff, with participants being screened for common vision and eye-related concerns and guided on further evaluation and care wherever required. The initiative also helped raise awareness about preventive healthcare and encouraged the college community to come forward and participate in the blood donation drive.
The Boppana Sarath Gopal Foundation and Vignana Jyothi, reaffirmed their commitment to continuing meaningful initiatives that promote healthcare awareness, voluntary service and the well-being of society. Through such initiatives, the institution continues to encourage students and the wider Vignana Jyothi community to take an active role in socially meaningful causes while making health and wellness an integral part of their lives.
