Kochi, Sep 23: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, a Fortune Global 500 company and a Maharatna PSU, has strengthened its focus on LPG cylinder quality and customer safety through its ‘Zero Ka Dum’ programme, implemented across BPCL’s LPG network as part of its wider efforts to strengthen operational excellence.
The ‘Defect Mila Toh Refill Free’ initiative brings quality assurance closer to customers in Trivandrum city, with a clear assurance that if a genuine defect is identified in a Bharatgas cylinder at the time of delivery, customers can get a free refill, subject to applicable terms and conditions.
The ‘Zero Ka Dum’ programme is designed to ensure that quality is maintained at every stage, well before a cylinder reaches the customer’s doorstep. Under the programme, BPCL’s LPG bottling plants undergo rigorous third-party certification audits conducted by independent agencies accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Certification Bodies. The audits assess every stage of the cylinder’s journey from the plant to the consumer, with a focus on ensuring that only defect-free, high-quality cylinders reach customers. 55 LPG bottling plants have already successfully achieved ‘Zero Ka Dum’ certification.
Speaking about the initiative, Shri T.V. Pandiyan, Business Head (LPG) BPCL, said,
“The ‘Zero Ka Dum’ programme reflects BPCL’s unwavering commitment to quality, operational excellence and customer safety. Through rigorous quality checks, maintenance practices, safety checkpoints and independent certification, we are strengthening quality at every stage from the bottling plant to the customer’s doorstep. The ‘Defect Mila Toh Refill Free’ assurance further demonstrates our confidence in the quality of our cylinders and reinforces our customer-first approach. This initiative is the result of the relentless efforts of our LPG Business Unit to deliver defect-free cylinders and build greater customer trust.”
The programme brings together advanced technology, stringent maintenance practices, safety checkpoints and independent quality certification to strengthen operational controls across LPG bottling operations. This comprehensive approach enables BPCL to maintain rigorous quality standards while placing customer safety at the centre of its LPG operations.
The customer assurance under ‘Zero Ka Dum’ is intended to make this commitment tangible. By offering a free refill in case of a genuine cylinder defect identified at the time of delivery, Bharatgas is reinforcing the importance it places on quality and reliability at the final point of customer interaction.
This initiative has been launched in select cities, including Trivandrum city. It will be gradually rolled out to other locations.
