Mumbai, Sep 23: Comet, the homegrown footwear brand known for its design-led approach to sneakers, introduces Dilli, a new shoe inspired by the architecture, history and unmistakable character of Delhi.

At the heart of Dilli is the city’s iconic red sandstone architecture. The shoe’s all-over red colour takes inspiration from landmarks such as the Red Fort and Humayun’s Tomb, creating a visual connection to some of Delhi’s most recognisable monuments.
The city’s architectural details continue across the sneaker. The embossed detailing on the sides draws inspiration from the intricate windows of Humayun’s Tomb, translating its distinctive patterns into the construction of the shoe. The back tab features a cutout inspired by the Lotus Temple, adding another of Delhi’s architectural landmarks to the silhouette.
The detailing continues beneath the back tab, where lifting it reveals line art depicting Delhi’s iconic monuments, creating a hidden layer of the city within the shoe. On the back of the sneaker, a line from renowned poet Mirza Ghalib captures the connection between the city and its character: “Ye duniya maano jism hai aur Dilli uski jaan.”
The Delhi story extends to the packaging as well. The shoe box takes on the same red sandstone-inspired colour palette, featuring illustrations of some of the city’s famous monuments. Inside, the butter paper draws inspiration from the walls of Humayun’s Tomb, carrying the architectural language of the city through to the unboxing experience.
The shoe will be limited to just 100 pairs available online, after which Dilli will be available exclusively across Comet’s three Delhi stores.
With Dilli, Comet brings together architecture, history and design to create a sneaker that pays tribute to the city through details both seen and hidden.
