Layers Launches Anarc 2, Built With Feedback From First-Generation Customers

New Delhi, Sept 21: Layers, the consumer technology company founded by Neel Gogia and Shlok Srivastava, has launched Anarc 2 at an accessible price point of ₹6,999. The second-generation smartwatch has been reworked across hardware, software and user experience based on feedback from people who used the first Anarc, with Nexora OS forming the centre of the new experience.

Ahead of the wider market rollout, the company invited 100 Anarc 1 customers to Delhi for a private reveal of the new smartwatch, with customers travelling from cities including Hyderabad, Bhubaneswar and Bengaluru to experience the product first-hand. Rather than beginning with a conventional reveal, Layers chose to introduce the second generation to the people who had already experienced the first.

The company also engaged with its community across Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru throughout the development process, using these conversations to understand what users valued and what could make the next version more useful in everyday life. Over the past year, the WhatsApp community received more than 100 messages a day from customers, creating a steady stream of criticism, suggestions and feedback that the team used throughout the development of Anarc 2.

“With Anarc 1, we made our share of mistakes, and our customers and fellow creators were honest enough to give us constructive feedback and push us in the right direction. We listened, learned from it and took those conversations back to the team. A huge thank you to all our customers and creators who took the time to tell us what worked and what we could have done better. Anarc 2 is possible because of that community, because people were willing to give us honest feedback and, more importantly, believe in our vision,” said Shlok Srivastava, Co-founder, Layers and Tech Burner.

At the centre of that rebuild is Nexora OS, Layers’ newly developed operating system and smartwatch interface. The company worked with Seymourpowell, a London-based product design consultancy, on the redesign, with a focus on creating a more responsive and customisable interface.

Anarc 2 features a 1.85-inch AMOLED display with a 60Hz refresh rate, 390 × 450 resolution, 322 PPI and up to 700 nits peak brightness. It has an aluminium middle frame, a functional crown with haptics, display haptics, a customisable side button and an updated liquid silicone strap. The smartwatch is powered by a HiSilicon processor, has 256MB memory and a 350mAh battery, and carries an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. Assembled in India, Anarc 2 also reflects Layers’ focus on building and delivering its products for the Indian market.

The battery is rated for up to 7 days of everyday use and up to 14 days in saver mode. Anarc 2 also introduces a redesigned magnetic charging system with a stronger magnetic hold.

The software experience is built around personalisation and interaction. Anarc 2 comes with 200+ in-house watchfaces, dedicated Always-On Displays, responsive and dynamic watchfaces, built-in watchface customisation and support for storing up to 30 watchfaces on the device. The interface also features more than 40 animations, haptic feedback and multiple interaction styles.

“With Anarc 2, we wanted to complete the hardware and software experience in the areas where the first Anarc could have done more. We looked closely at what was missing and worked on bringing those improvements together across the watch, from the software experience through Nexora OS to important hardware and fitness features such as built-in GPS. The focus was on making the overall experience more complete for everyday use,” said Neel Gogia, Co-founder, Layers.

Anarc 2 also brings AI into the smartwatch experience through Layers AI and Canvas AI. Layers AI is designed as an AI assistant that users can access directly from the watch through voice interaction, while Canvas AI allows users to create AI-generated watchfaces using prompts. Both features are currently available in beta.

For health and fitness, Anarc 2 features an upgraded Heart Rate Sensor, with Layers stating that heart-rate monitoring is 33% faster than on the previous generation. The smartwatch supports heart-rate and SpO₂ monitoring, stress tracking, sleep tracking, women’s health tracking, activity rings, weekly statistics and more than 100 workout modes. It also includes built-in GPS, AGPS, route tracking and Strava workout syncing.

For everyday use, features like notifications, calls, camera control, Find My Phone, Find My Watch, SOS, calculator, calendar, weather, AQI, alarms, timers and reminders have been included. It also supports Direct TWS connectivity, allowing compatible earbuds to connect directly to the watch, with storage for up to 20 favourite tracks.

The launch comes as the ₹5,000–₹7,000 smartwatch segment sees strong growth in India. Data for Q2 2026 shows the segment reached 225.9K units, crossing the 200K mark, compared with 150.2K units in Q1 2026 and 138.4K units in Q4 2025. The segment recorded 149.3% year-on-year growth in Q2 2026, while overall smartwatch shipments declined 4.0% year-on-year to 6.4 million units.
