Lumami, 19 September, 2026: The Department of Geography, Nagaland University, organised a pledge ceremony on Friday as part of the nationwide Swachh Sagar Surakshit Sagar (SSSS V 5.0) Campaign, led by the Ministry of Earth Sciences and the National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT).
Faculty members and students of the Department of Geography participated in person, while participants from other departments, including Environmental Sciences and Forestry, joined the ceremony virtually and took the pledge.
The ceremony was inaugurated by Dr. Manasi Debnath, following which Prof. Virendra Kumar, Head of the Department of Geography, delivered a brief address on the importance of protecting and keeping the oceans clean and safe.
The programme concluded with participants taking the Swachh Sagar Surakshit Sagar pledge together, reaffirming their commitment to cleaner oceans and a sustainable environment.
