Grasshopper Sports India takes Hyderabad talent to global stage; youngsters gain valuable international exposure
Hyderabad, Sept 15: Five young footballers from Hyderabad have brought international recognition to the city by representing India at an International Youth Football Tournament in Carolina, USA, where youth teams from around the world competed, giving the Indian youngsters an opportunity to test their skills against international opposition.
The players — Akshaan, Aditya, Arjun, Jasim Nawaz Khan and Saif Qureshi — represented Grasshopper Sports India and returned to Hyderabad after an eight-day international football tour. The youngsters put up commendable performances, showcasing their talent, discipline, teamwork and competitive spirit against teams from several footballing nations.
The tournament featured youth teams representing countries including Brazil, Portugal, France, Italy, Japan, Ecuador, Norway, Sweden and the United States, making it a valuable international learning experience for the Hyderabad players.
The participation marks another step in Grasshopper Sports & Entertainment’s efforts to promote grassroots football, nurture young talent and create pathways for Indian footballers to gain international exposure.
For the youngsters, the tournament provided an opportunity not only to compete at a higher level but also to experience different styles of football, understand international standards of competition and interact with young footballers from across the world.

Grasshopper Sports India said international exposure at the formative stage can play an important role in developing confidence, competitive ability, discipline and a broader understanding of the game among young Indian footballers.
The organisation plans to continue its efforts to identify and nurture promising youngsters and provide them with opportunities to train, compete and learn on international platforms.
Football is steadily moving beyond its traditional strongholds in India, with a growing grassroots culture among schoolchildren and youngsters in cities and towns across the country. Football academies, schools, local clubs and youth tournaments are creating a wider talent pool, while international exposure is increasingly becoming an important part of player development. Against this backdrop, opportunities for young Indian footballers to compete overseas can provide valuable experience, confidence and a better understanding of international standards of the game.
The city boast of over 131 football academies, classes, coaching programmes and facilities across 50 localities. The Telangana Football Association currently has 90 approved clubs, 3,698 registered players, 258 coaches and 11 registered districts in the AIFF system. Hyderabad has emerged as one of Telangana’s important centres for grassroots football, with a growing network of football academies, clubs, school programmes and youth leagues nurturing children and teenagers. The city’s football ecosystem is expanding from basic coaching and local competitions to structured player development and international exposure, with the recent establishment of the AIFF-FIFA Telangana Talent Academy further strengthening the pathway for promising young players.
