Dubai,Sept. 11: Odisha’s traditional handicrafts and handloom heritage has gained a new international platform with the inauguration of the One District, One Product (ODOP) Gallery in Dubai by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
The newly launched gallery brings together some of the state’s most iconic artisan products, offering global buyers and visitors a glimpse into Odisha’s centuries-old craftsmanship while creating fresh opportunities for exports and local livelihoods.
Among the featured products are the renowned Sambalpuri Saree from Sambalpur, Maniabandha Handloom and Silver Filigree from Cuttack, Dongria Shawls from Rayagada, Terracotta Idols from Kendujhar, Black Granite Sculptures from Balasore, and Pattachitra and Palm Leaf Engraving artworks from Puri.
Addressing the occasion, Majhi said the initiative reflects the state’s commitment to taking Odisha’s unique products “from local to global.” He stressed that expanding international market access, encouraging value addition, and securing greater global recognition for traditional crafts remain key priorities of the government.
The gallery is expected to serve as a gateway for Odisha’s artisans to connect with overseas markets, particularly benefiting women-led enterprises, self-help groups, and rural producers by enhancing income and employment opportunities.
The ODOP initiative also reinforces Odisha’s broader strategy of promoting district-specific products as engines of economic growth, ensuring that the state’s rich cultural heritage evolves into a sustainable driver of entrepreneurship and global trade.
