Vadodara, Sep 9: Greenply Industries Limited has partnered with GreenLine Mobility Solutions Ltd to introduce LNG-powered trucks into its outbound logistics network, as the company looks to make product transportation cleaner while maintaining an efficient supply chain.

The partnership was marked by the flag-off of LNG-powered trucks at Greenply’s manufacturing facility in Vadodara. The vehicles will transport finished products from the facility to different destinations across the company’s distribution network.

For Greenply, the initiative brings sustainability into an important part of its business operations. While manufacturing efficiency remains a key priority, transportation is also an important component of the supply chain, particularly for companies that move products over long distances.

LNG-powered trucks offer an alternative to conventional diesel vehicles and can help reduce emissions from heavy freight transportation. GreenLine says the trucks being deployed for Greenply can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by up to 40 per cent, along with significant reductions in other pollutants such as sulphur oxides, nitrogen oxides and particulate matter.

The partnership also gives Greenply an opportunity to assess the commercial and operational benefits of alternative-fuel transportation. Factors such as fuel efficiency, transportation costs, vehicle performance and delivery reliability will be important as the company evaluates the wider use of cleaner trucks across its logistics operations.

GreenLine has been expanding its LNG and electric heavy-truck fleet to serve industries including manufacturing, steel, cement, FMCG, chemicals and mining. The company currently operates more than 1,000 vehicles across major freight corridors and says its fleet has travelled over 100 million kilometres.

The growing adoption of LNG trucks is also creating new opportunities for India’s logistics industry. Companies are increasingly looking for transportation solutions that can support long-distance freight while improving fuel efficiency and reducing emissions. GreenLine has previously outlined plans to significantly expand its LNG truck fleet and supporting refuelling infrastructure.

For manufacturers, cleaner logistics is becoming part of a broader business strategy rather than being viewed only as an environmental initiative. More efficient transportation can support supply-chain planning, improve resource utilisation and help companies respond to growing expectations around responsible business practices.

Greenply’s partnership with GreenLine is therefore an important step in integrating alternative-fuel transportation into its distribution network. The company can use the experience from the initial deployment to identify where LNG-powered vehicles can deliver the best operational and business value.

As India’s freight and logistics sector continues to modernise, the combination of conventional and alternative-fuel vehicles is expected to become increasingly important. For businesses, the focus will remain on finding transportation solutions that balance cost, reliability, efficiency and environmental performance.

The Greenply-GreenLine partnership highlights how sustainability is gradually becoming part of day-to-day business decisions. By extending cleaner practices from manufacturing facilities to logistics operations, companies can work towards more efficient and responsible supply chains while continuing to meet the demands of a growing market.
