Sep 09: Disha Eye Hospitals successfully performed East India’s first SMILE® Pro Hyperopia procedure, marking an important milestone in advanced vision correction in the region. The procedure was performed by Dr. Ayan Mohanta at Disha Eye Hospitals using SMILE® Pro technology on a 24-year-old patient.

Following its recent regulatory approval in India, SMILE® Pro Hyperopia offers a minimally invasive laser vision correction option for selected patients with hyperopia, commonly known as “plus power,” with or without astigmatism. Until now, SMILE® Pro laser vision correction has been more commonly associated with treating myopia, or “minus power.” The availability of SMILE® Pro Hyperopia expands the range of patients who can explore advanced vision correction options.

Unlike conventional laser vision correction procedures that may involve creating a flap on the cornea, SMILE® Pro uses advanced femtosecond laser technology through a small incision. It is designed to correct refractive errors through a minimally invasive, flapless approach. The procedure can be used to treat both farsightedness and nearsightedness, with or without astigmatism, depending on the patient’s suitability.
