Kolkata, Sep 07: As a part of the observance of the 41st National Eye Donation Fortnight 2026, Disha Eye Hospitals & Prova Eye Bank organised ‘Draw For Sight’, a drawing competition aimed at engaging school students and sensitising the younger generation towards the importance of eye donation and the gift of sight. The competition was held at Disha Eye Hospitals, New Town, Kolkata.
The initiative provided young participants with a creative platform to express their thoughts and perspectives on eye donation, vision and the transformative impact of giving the gift of sight. Through art and imagination, the competition sought to encourage meaningful conversations around eye donation and inspire greater awareness among students, families and the wider community. The competition featured two categories: Category 1 for students of Classes V – VII and Category 2 for students of Classes VIII–XII. Participants showcased their creativity and interpreted the theme of eye donation through their artwork.
“Eye donation is one of the most meaningful ways of giving someone the gift of sight and a renewed opportunity to experience the world. Through ‘Draw For Sight’, we wanted to engage young minds in this important cause and encourage them to understand the profound impact that eye donation can have on another person’s life. Art provides a powerful and expressive medium to communicate such a meaningful message, and we are delighted to see students use their creativity to spread awareness about the importance of eye donation”, stated Dr. Debasish Bhattacharya, Chairman & Managing Director, Disha Eye Hospitals.
The art competition witnessed the enthusiastic participation of more than 60 students from total 17 schools across Kolkata. Students from The Newtown School, Lighting Lives School, IEM Public School, G.D. Goenka Public School, Narayana School, Newtown, Delhi Public School, Newtown, Delhi Public School, Megacity, Harmony High School, La Martiniere for Girls amongst others participated to showcase their creativity through the expression of colourful paintings.
The drawing competition organised to mark the 41st National Eye Donation Fortnight 2026 brought together creativity, compassion and social awareness, inspiring young participants to recognise the life-changing value of the gift of sight.
