Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh government November 7, 2025, honoured Telugu cricketer N. Shree Charani for her World Cup triumph. Consequently, she will receive a cash reward of Rs 2.5 crore. Additionally, the government has offered her a secure job. Furthermore, she will be allotted a house site, recognising her exceptional contribution to India’s victorious 2025 women’s cricket team.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced rewards for young cricketer N. Shree Charani soon after she arrived from Delhi. Consequently, the Chief Minister praised her World Cup-winning performance. He stated that her achievement reflects India’s growing strength in women’s sports.
In addition, Naidu announced that Shree Charani will receive a Group 1 officer job in the state government. Furthermore, she will get a 1,000 square yard plot in Kadapa to build her house. The 21-year-old expressed happiness and thanked the government for recognising her hard work.
Shree Charani shared the joy of her World Cup victory with CM Naidu and Minister Nara Lokesh. Moreover, she expressed gratitude for their encouragement and support. The Chief Minister highlighted that her win demonstrates the power of Indian women athletes. He also called her a role model for young sportswomen.
During the meeting, Shree Charani presented a T-shirt signed by the Indian women’s cricket team to the Chief Minister. Talking to the media, she said she felt love and affection from everyone. She added that her family provided continuous encouragement throughout her cricket journey.
Shree Charani revealed that her maternal uncle introduced her to cricket at an early age. Subsequently, she trained at the Andhra Cricket Association to develop her skills. She described her World Cup victory as the first step toward bringing more laurels for the nation. Her confidence inspired many aspiring players across the country.
Earlier, Minister Nara Lokesh welcomed Shree Charani and former captain Mithali Raj at the Chief Minister’s residence. Furthermore, Andhra Pradesh CM Naidu shared a photo on ‘X’ writing, “Selfie with a spinner who made India a winner.” Lokesh congratulated her and praised her achievement for inspiring young athletes.
The young cricketer received a grand welcome at Gannavaram airport, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. Andhra Cricket Association President Keshineni Chinni and Secretary Sana Satish joined ministers Anitha, Savita, Sandhyarani, and Sports Authority Chairman Animini Ravi Naidu. Her hometown in Kadapa district celebrated her success with pride.
The Andhra Pradesh girl made her international debut in April and played her first World Cup this year. The left-arm spinner took 14 wickets in the tournament. In the final against South Africa, she trapped Anneke Bosch lbw in the 12th over. This breakthrough helped India stage a remarkable comeback.
Her performance in the semifinal against Australia also impressed everyone. She claimed two wickets for 49 runs in her 10-over spell. Coming from the small village of Yerramala Palle, Kadapa, she trained under her uncle Kishore Kumar Reddy, a part-time cricketer at the Rayalaseema Thermal Power Station.
