New Delhi, Sep 4: Adobe is preparing for a major change at the top, with Anil Chakravarthy set to take over as the company’s president and chief executive officer from veteran leader Shantanu Narayen.
Chakravarthy, who currently leads Adobe’s Customer Experience Orchestration business along with its worldwide field operations, will join the company’s Board of Directors from December 1, 2026.
Narayen, who has guided Adobe through a major transformation over the years, will move into the role of executive chair. He will continue working with Chakravarthy to ensure a smooth handover and support the company’s future strategy.
The transition comes at an important time for Adobe as artificial intelligence rapidly changes the way businesses and consumers use creative, productivity and customer-experience software.
Narayen said Chakravarthy’s deep understanding of Adobe, leadership experience and track record in developing new products position him well to lead the company through the next stage of its growth.
Chakravarthy said he is excited about taking on the new responsibility and plans to build on Adobe’s strengths as the company enters what he described as a new era of AI-powered and agentic software.
Chakravarthy has been with Adobe since January 2020, when he joined as executive vice president and general manager of the Digital Experience business. Later that year, he also took charge of worldwide field operations serving enterprise customers.
He became president of Digital Experience and worldwide field operations in December 2021, expanding his responsibilities across Adobe’s enterprise business.
Before joining Adobe, Chakravarthy spent four years as chief executive officer of Informatica, a company specialising in enterprise cloud data management.
With AI becoming an increasingly important part of Adobe’s business strategy, the leadership transition puts Chakravarthy at the centre of the company’s next phase of growth, while Narayen is set to continue contributing to its direction as executive chair.
