Bhubaneswar, Sept. 1 (UDN): Senior Indian Railway Accounts Service (IRAS) officer Bijaya Kumar Mishra on Tuesday assumed charge as the Additional General Manager (AGM) of East Coast Railway (ECoR).

A 1991-batch IRAS officer, Mishra brings more than three decades of experience spanning railway finance, project management, operations and administration. He will continue to hold his existing position as Principal Financial Adviser (PFA), ECoR, alongside his new responsibility.

Extensive experience in railway administration

As PFA, Mishra oversees the Accounts, Finance, Budget and Internal Audit functions of East Coast Railway, one of Indian Railways’ major revenue-generating zones.

During his career, he has held several important assignments across different areas of railway administration. He previously served as Divisional Railway Manager of Tinsukia Division under Northeast Frontier Railway, where he was responsible for the administration and operations of a challenging railway division.

He has also worked with IRCON International Limited on deputation, heading its Project Finance function in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and overseeing financial aspects of major international infrastructure projects.

Strong academic and professional background

Mishra holds a postgraduate degree in Applied Geology from IIT (ISM), Dhanbad, along with a Master of Public Policy from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore.

He has further undergone specialised training in Financial Management at the European School of Business in London and Paris and received advanced training in Heavy Haul Railway Technology at Beijing Jiaotong University in China.

Expected to strengthen ECoR’s administration

With his background in financial management, railway operations, infrastructure projects and public administration, Mishra is expected to contribute to improving the operational and administrative efficiency of East Coast Railway.

Railway officials expressed confidence that his extensive experience will strengthen coordination across key departments and support the zone’s ongoing operational and developmental priorities.
