New Delhi, Sep 01: Lava International Limited, India’s homegrown phone manufacturer, today announced the integration of the PhonePe application powered by UPI payment capabilities across its feature phone portfolio. Democratizing technological solutions for enhanced user experience, the UPI facility is built on the National Payments Corporation of India’s 123PAY technology that works without data connection. With UPI technology, users can experience the convenience of making seamless digital transactions, checking account balances on the go and transferring money in minutes to their close ones.
The PhonePe application will be launched with Lava A7 Torch and Lava A2 Smart, both under the 2000 price category. It will also be integrated into other feature phone portfolio across series. The initiative is aimed at bridging the digital gap through technological innovations bringing digital inclusion across consumer segments.

Designed to work through SMS-based connectivity, UPI 123PAY brings digital payment capabilities to feature phone users who may not have access to smartphones or internet connectivity. Users can register their bank account, set up their UPI PIN, and use the application to make payments and access other supported services directly through their feature phones.
