Sep, 1: India’s live entertainment industry is entering a defining phase of growth. As audiences expand, global artists increasingly include India on their touring calendars and productions grow more ambitious in scale and complexity, the conversation is increasingly shifting from demand generation to holistic ecosystem development. The industry’s continued evolution will depend not only on audience appetite, but on the strength of the infrastructure, expertise and operational capabilities that support it.

Against this backdrop, BookMyShow Live, the live entertainment experiential division of BookMyShow, has continued to invest in the foundational capabilities required to support a rapidly maturing live entertainment ecosystem. From deploying world-class production infrastructure, transforming underutilised spaces into concert-ready venues, and collaborating with state governments to strengthen destination readiness and upskilling local production talent—these investments reflect the company’s  long-term commitment to building the physical, operational and economic foundations required for India’s live entertainment industry to thrive on a global scale.

Furthering this vision, BookMyShow Live today announced a strategic investment in Stageco equipment, one of the world’s most respected staging companies, significantly strengthening India’s capability to host large-scale international tours, festivals and live productions. The investment marks BookMyShow Live’s second major production infrastructure partnership, following the introduction of the StarLive’s VerTech Stage in 2024, India’s first all-steel stage. While the VerTech investment established a new benchmark for large-format staging infrastructure in the country, the addition of Stageco extends that ambition further, bringing to India a system that has powered some of the world’s most technically demanding live productions.

Together, these investments reflect BookMyShow Live’s long-term strategy of building owned production capability rather than relying solely on event-specific infrastructure. By investing in permanent production assets that can be continually deployed, refined and scaled across its rich portfolio of live events, concerts and festivals, BookMyShow Live is helping strengthen the broader ecosystem and setting a new benchmark  for live entertainment in India.

Naman Pugalia, Chief Business Officer – Live Events, BookMyShow, said, “India’s live entertainment industry has reached an exciting inflection point. Audience demand has grown tremendously, global artists increasingly view India as an essential touring destination and productions continue to evolve in scale and ambition. For the industry to sustain this momentum, the supporting ecosystem must evolve alongside it. Our investment in Stageco equipment reflects our long-term commitment to building the infrastructure that India’s live entertainment future needs. Following the introduction of the VerTech Stage, this is another important milestone in strengthening the country’s production capabilities and enabling India to host increasingly ambitious global productions without compromise. Beyond bringing world-class artists to India, we are equally committed to investing behind the scenes, in infrastructure, expertise and ecosystem development, to help create the conditions for the industry to grow sustainably for years to come.”

Global touring productions are designed to precise technical specifications. Rigging capacities, trim heights, structural loading, video infrastructure and stage configurations are defined as production requirements, not variables. The ability of a market’s staging infrastructure to meet these specifications determines whether a show can be delivered exactly as envisioned by artists and creative teams, rather than being adapted to accommodate local infrastructure limitations.

Engineered to meet these demands, the current Stageco configuration features the Classic 4 Tower Roof system incorporating elements of the iconic Super Roof header, alongside four field delay towers and four Front of House (FOH) systems. Built using a steel pitch roof configuration rather than the aluminium structures more commonly available across India, the system delivers substantially higher load-bearing capacity, greater trim heights, enhanced structural stability and significantly greater flexibility for artists and production designers.

Supporting up to 28 tonnes of uniformly distributed load across its central grid and achieving trim heights of approximately 15 metres, the system enables larger lighting rigs, expansive flown LED installations, complex stage designs and fully flown audio systems that were previously difficult to execute in India. Its modular design also allows for multiple stage configurations, making it adaptable across a wide range of concerts and festivals while improving audience sightlines through compact delay towers and optimised Front of House structures.

Designed to withstand challenging weather conditions including wind and rain, the infrastructure also enhances operational resilience and safety for large-format live events. The system has already demonstrated its capabilities in India. At Travis Scott’s CIRCUS MAXIMUS concert in Mumbai, BookMyShow Live delivered what is believed to be the country’s largest flown LED backdrop ever rigged on a temporary structure, made possible by the system’s exceptional load-bearing capacity and engineering precision. The ability to fly larger audio systems directly from the roof structure also reduces the need for extensive scaffolding around the stage, preserving valuable venue space while creating a more immersive audience experience.

Announcing the partnership with BookMyShow Live, CEO Wouter Van Mierloo said,

“We are excited to partner with BookMyShow Live at a time when India’s live entertainment industry is witnessing tremendous growth and global momentum, creating new opportunities for revolutionising India’s music events landscape through world-class staging and production infrastructure. As global touring productions continue to expand into newer markets, the need for internationally benchmarked infrastructure becomes increasingly important. Through this collaboration, we look forward to bringing Stageco’s global expertise and staging capabilities to India, supporting the delivery of larger, more ambitious and technically advanced live experiences for artists and audiences alike.”

While a wider rollout across cities is planned in the coming months, BookMyShow Live has already begun integrating key Stageco components into some of its largest productions, with FOH consoles deployed at marquee live experiences including Lollapalooza India 2026, Def Leppard in Shillong and Linkin Park in Bengaluru.

Globally recognised for powering some of the world’s most ambitious live productions, Stageco’s staging systems have also supported performances by iconic international artists including Coldplay, Metallica, The Rolling Stones, U2 and Rammstein, enabling the scale, engineering precision and complex production requirements synonymous with global stadium tours and headline festival performances

Over the years, BookMyShow Live has established itself as one of India’s leading live entertainment companies, bringing globally celebrated artists including Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Post Malone and Travis Scott to Indian audiences while introducing internationally acclaimed festival formats such as Lollapalooza India. Through continued investments in production infrastructure, venue readiness, local capability development and government partnerships, BookMyShow Live remains committed to building the physical, operational and economic foundations required for India to emerge as one of the world’s leading live entertainment destinations.
