Bhubaneswar, Aug. 30 (UDN): Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will lead a high-level state delegation to Dubai on September 8 and 9 as the government steps up its efforts to attract foreign investment and position Odisha as a major industrial destination.
The two-day Investors’ Meet will provide the state an opportunity to present its investment potential before companies, business groups and international investors based in the UAE and the wider Gulf region.
Odisha to Showcase Key Investment Sectors
During the Dubai outreach, the state government is expected to highlight opportunities across several priority sectors, including metals and downstream manufacturing, petrochemicals, green energy and green hydrogen, food processing, textiles and apparel, electronics, ports and logistics.
The government plans to use the platform for direct interactions with prospective investors and industry leaders, with the objective of converting interest into concrete investment proposals and projects.
Dubai has been chosen as a key destination for Odisha’s investment outreach because of its position as a major global business and financial centre and a gateway to the wider Middle East and MENA markets.
CM Majhi’s Investment Outreach Continues
The Dubai visit is part of the Odisha government’s wider campaign to attract investment through domestic and international investor engagements.
Majhi has already led investment outreach programmes in cities including Hyderabad, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Vadodara and New Delhi, pitching Odisha as a growth and industrial hub in eastern India.
The state has also been approving major industrial projects in sectors such as renewable energy, solar manufacturing, critical minerals, steel, pharmaceuticals and railway manufacturing. In June, the state’s High-Level Clearance Authority approved 20 major projects involving an investment of ₹76,612 crore, with the potential to create more than 50,500 jobs.
Focus on Gulf Investors
The Dubai Investors’ Meet is expected to give Odisha access to a large pool of investors and multinational companies operating across the UAE and other Gulf markets.
The state is looking to leverage its mineral resources, coastline, ports, industrial infrastructure and emerging clean-energy ecosystem to attract investment in both traditional and new-age industries.
The government is particularly keen to promote value addition and downstream industries, renewable energy and green hydrogen, while expanding opportunities in logistics, electronics and food processing.
What to Watch
The September 8-9 meetings will be closely watched for fresh investment proposals, expressions of interest and potential industrial partnerships.
For Odisha, the larger objective is to translate international investor outreach into new projects, industrial expansion and employment opportunities, strengthening the state’s position as an investment destination.
With the Chief Minister leading the delegation, the Dubai meet is expected to be another major step in Odisha’s ongoing campaign to bring global capital and technology into the state.
