NEW YORK, August 28 — Bilt, the membership that connects where you live with the places you love, today announced a collaboration with Global Citizen, and Global Citizen Ambassador Hugh Jackman as the featured guest for September Rent Day®. Hugh joins Bilt’s monthly Rent Free™ game show, where the better he does, the more Bilt Members win free rent.
A two-time Tony winner and an Emmy and Grammy winner, Global Citizen Ambassador Hugh Jackman is hosting the Global Citizen Festival on Central Park’s Great Lawn on September 26, alongside 60,000 people who have taken actions to help end extreme poverty. This year’s campaign is working to get two million children into school, support 1.5 million smallholder farmers, and bring electricity to 2.5 million homes.
“Rent is the biggest thing our members pay for every month, and the whole idea is that it should give something back, in some way,” said Ankur Jain, Founder and CEO of Bilt. “This month, it gives back a little differently. Some members are going to win free rent, some are going to end up on the Great Lawn at the Global Citizen Festival, and all of it goes toward such amazing causes. We couldn’t be more excited to collaborate with Global Citizen and Global Citizen Ambassador Hugh Jackman to make that all happen.”
The Rent Day® collaboration with Global Citizen Ambassador Hugh Jackman runs across the entire Bilt experience. Members receive direct access to redeem general admission tickets to the festival, with proceeds donated to Global Citizen. Three members and their guests will win an all-expenses-paid VIP festival weekend in New York, including flights, hotel, an early look at the festival, and VIP access on the Great Lawn. A limited co-branded Global Citizen collection will also drop in The Bilt Collection, with proceeds going to the cause.
And, for the first time, Bilt Members can donate Bilt Points directly to Global Citizen, turning the points they earn paying rent into funding for the campaign. It marks the first time Bilt Members can put their points behind a cause, and opens a new chapter for what the currency can do.
The partnership sits at the intersection of what both organizations are built on: the idea that where you live is the starting point, not the boundary. Bilt has spent five years turning rent – the largest recurring expense most people have – into rewards, neighborhood access, and a path to homeownership. Global Citizen has spent more than a decade proving that individual actions, taken at scale, move governments and institutions. September Rent Day® brings the two together.
“Ending extreme poverty has never been the work of a few large donors. It’s millions of people choosing to act, over and over,” said Hugh Evans, Co-Founder and CEO of Global Citizen. “What Bilt facilitates is a way for that choice to fit into something people already do every month, which is exactly how movements grow. We’re grateful to have Bilt Members standing with us on the Great Lawn and everywhere else they live.”
