New Delhi, Aug 28: IndiGo Ventures has invested in Indian AI startup Sarvam as part of its ongoing Series B funding round, strengthening the airline’s efforts to bring artificial intelligence into everyday operations and customer services.
The investment builds on an existing partnership between the two companies. Their collaboration is focused on finding practical ways to use AI for improving customer interactions, supporting employees and simplifying complex operational processes.
For IndiGo, the move comes at a time when airlines are increasingly looking at technology to manage large volumes of customer requests and operational information. AI could help make selected services faster, improve internal workflows and allow employees to focus on tasks that require greater human attention.
Sarvam is developing a broad AI platform covering models, voice technology and agentic systems. Its Series B funding is being directed towards research in advanced AI models, agentic applications, coding and cybersecurity, as well as computing infrastructure and enterprise deployments.
The partnership also highlights a growing trend in India’s corporate sector: established companies are increasingly working with domestic technology startups to develop solutions around real business requirements rather than treating AI simply as an experimental technology.
For the aviation industry, such collaborations could eventually influence areas ranging from customer support and employee assistance to operational workflows and technology-driven decision-making.
The investment also strengthens the connection between India’s fast-growing AI ecosystem and one of its largest aviation businesses. By combining aviation expertise with homegrown AI capabilities, the partnership could create practical use cases that can be tested at scale.
For India’s startup ecosystem, participation from large businesses provides AI companies with access to real-world challenges and potential enterprise markets. For businesses, it offers an opportunity to develop technology that is closely aligned with operational needs.
IndiGo’s investment therefore represents more than a funding transaction. It reflects the airline’s broader push towards technology-led efficiency and the growing role of Indian AI companies in transforming how businesses operate.
