SFK Group Brings Automated Litter-Picking Technology to Gurugram, Eyes Wider Adoption Across India

New Delhi, Aug 27: SFK Group of Companies is taking steps towards improving litter management in urban areas through its association with Spruce Up, the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) behind the JATAU Litter Picker Machine. The company has brought the technology to Gurugram, where two JATAU machines are currently operational across internal and external areas of the city.

It is part of SFK Group‘s broader effort to support cleaner public spaces and contribute to the objectives of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The Group sees technology as a practical way to support municipal teams, particularly in areas where conventional practices of litter collection can be difficult or time-consuming.

JATAU is designed to pick up litter using a suction-based system and can be operated by two people, comprising a driver and a helper. Its litterpicking mechanism can rotate approximately 260 degrees and move horizontally and vertically, allowing the operator to collect waste from different directions. This makes the machine suitable for roads as well as narrower and more congested spaces.

Commenting on the initiative, Mr Nitin Kaushal, Founder & Managing Director, SFK Group of Companies, said, “For SFK, this is not just another business opportunity. We have always wanted to see our cities cleaner and healthier, and this association allows us to work towards that practically. The two JATAU machines already operating in Gurugram are an encouraging start. We now want to take this solution to more cities and districts, working with municipal authorities and other stakeholders wherever it can make a real difference.”

SFK Group plans to explore opportunities to introduce the technology across more cities and districts in Haryana, followed by other parts of the country. The company intends to work with government bodies, municipal authorities and relevant stakeholders to understand local requirements and identify suitable applications for automated litter collection.

This initiative adds another dimension to SFK Group‘s existing portfolio of industrial and environmental solutions. Established in 2010, the Delhi NCR-headquartered Group has a business portfolio spanning industrial automation and instrumentation, environmental monitoring, AI-based solutions, paper and packaging, electrical engineering and municipal sanitation technologies.

For SFK Group, the focus is on using available technology to address a visible everyday problem while supporting the larger effort to create cleaner public spaces. SFK believes that businesses, technology providers, citizens and public authorities all have a role to play in making urban cleanliness a shared responsibility.
