Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smt. Annpurna Devi on Thursday chaired a review meeting in Kolkata to assess the implementation of key schemes of the Ministry of Women and Child Development in West Bengal.
The meeting focused on strengthening coordination between the Centre and the state to ensure that every eligible woman and child receives the benefits of government welfare programmes. Minister of State for Women and Child Development Smt. Savitri Thakur, West Bengal Minister of State (Independent Charge) Smt. Malati Rava Roy and Secretary, Ministry of Women and Child Development, Shri Anil Malik, were among those present. Senior officials from the Union Ministry and the state departments of Women and Child Development and Social Welfare and Health and Family Welfare also attended.
Addressing the meeting, Annpurna Devi said coordinated efforts are essential to advance the vision of women-led development and a Viksit Bharat. She stressed that reviews must lead to concrete implementation and measurable results, stating that “review should translate into action, action into outcome and outcome into transformation.”
The Union Minister called for time-bound implementation, greater transparency and real-time monitoring of schemes at the grassroots level. She emphasised that stronger monitoring mechanisms and effective coordination are necessary to ensure that government programmes reach their intended beneficiaries without delays.
The meeting reviewed the progress of major initiatives being implemented in West Bengal under Mission Shakti, Mission Saksham Anganwadi & Poshan 2.0 and Mission Vatsalya. Officials also discussed the effective use of digital platforms, including the Poshan Tracker and the PMMVY portal, to improve monitoring, service delivery and beneficiary coverage.
Annpurna Devi thanked the state government officials for their participation and expressed confidence that closer coordination and a shared commitment between the Centre and West Bengal would help ensure that women and children receive the full benefits of the schemes.
The Consultative Committee of Members of Parliament for the Ministry of Women and Child Development is scheduled to meet in Kolkata on Friday. The meeting will be chaired by Annpurna Devi and attended by Smt. Savitri Thakur and members of Parliament.
