Mumbai, 21 August 2026: Godrej Capital, the financial services arm of Godrej Industries Group today, through its subsidiaries, announced the successful implementation of an automated weekly Credit Information Company (CIC) reporting framework, in line with the Reserve Bank of India’s transition to weekly credit reporting from 1 July 2026.

The in-house, touchfree capability automates the reporting lifecycle across all four RBI-licensed Credit Information Companies, strengthening the accuracy, timeliness and governance of credit reporting while significantly reducing manual intervention.

The framework automatically validates data against bureau guidelines, generates bureau-compliant files, securely submits them through automated SFTP channels and manages DPD communication workflows. It also integrates automated reconciliation, digital maker-checker controls and end-to-end audit traceability, creating a robust governance layer across the reporting process.

Together, these capabilities reduce operational risk, improve data quality and create a scalable reporting infrastructure designed to support evolving regulatory requirements, including a potential transition to daily reporting in the future.

Shalinee Mimani, Chief Risk Officer, said, “The RBI’s move to weekly credit reporting marks an important step in strengthening India’s credit ecosystem. We saw this as an opportunity to build a future-ready reporting infrastructure rather than simply meeting a regulatory requirement. Our in-house, touchfree CIC reporting capability combines automation with strong governance, enabling accurate, timely and audit-ready reporting while significantly reducing operational risk.

As reporting becomes more frequent, technology-led compliance will be critical to ensuring resilience, scalability and trust. More importantly, faster and more accurate reporting benefits customers by enabling fairer credit assessments, quicker recognition of repayment behaviour and an improved borrowing experience.”

Bhavesh Jain, MD & CEO, TransUnion CIBIL, added, “Weekly credit reporting is an important development for India’s credit information framework. It is a timely step that will improve the accuracy of credit records and support lenders in making well-informed decisions that benefit both consumers and the financial system. The enhanced data quality requirements set clear expectations for stronger reporting practices, better process discipline and higher transparency across the industry. These measures will help create a more dependable and trustworthy credit information environment. As India’s pioneer credit bureau, TransUnion CIBIL is committed to working with stakeholders for smooth implementation.”

The automated framework has already strengthened reporting capabilities through standardised processes, stronger governance controls and end-to-end traceability. The company has achieved a Consumer Data Quality Index (DQI) of nearly 100 per cent, while Commercial DQI is expected to exceed 95 per cent as the framework continues to mature.

The touchfree reporting ecosystem includes:

  • Automated validation of reporting data against bureau guidelines
  • Straight-through generation of bureau-compliant files
  • Secure automated submission through SFTP channels
  • Automated DPD communication workflows
  • Integrated reconciliation controls
  • Digital maker-checker governance
  • End-to-end audit traceability
  • Zero manual intervention across the reporting lifecycle

The initiative reflects the company’s focus on using technology to strengthen governance and data quality while contributing to a more transparent, responsible and resilient credit ecosystem.
