New Delhi: The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has signed separate Memoranda of Understanding with PhonePe and Shell India Pvt. Ltd. to expand support for recognised startups and strengthen innovation across emerging sectors.

The partnerships, signed on August 19, are designed to give startups better access to technology, digital infrastructure, mentorship, market opportunities and industry networks. The initiatives are part of efforts to build a stronger and more inclusive startup ecosystem in India.

Under the agreement with PhonePe, DPIIT-recognised startups will receive transaction credits through its Payment Gateway, access to the Indus AppStore and dedicated onboarding and support services. Startups will also benefit from masterclasses and webinars covering fintech, sales, go-to-market strategies and business expansion, along with opportunities to enhance their brand visibility.

The partnership with Shell India will focus particularly on energy and climate-tech startups. It will provide mentorship, strategic guidance, investor and incubator connections and opportunities to participate in the Shell E4 Smart Energy Track. The collaboration will also promote knowledge-sharing through sectoral success stories, white papers, policy briefs, industry reports and case studies, helping innovative startups scale solutions and contribute to India’s clean energy transition.
