Aug 18: The UC San Diego Health specialty pharmacy program has earned Utilization Review Accreditation Commission Rare Disease Certification, one of only three certified pharmacies in California and the first health system in San Diego to receive this recognition.
Charles Daniels, PharmD, PhD, chief pharmacy officer for UC San Diego Health and associate dean at UC San Diego Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, is available to discuss how this certification expands access to specialized medications and expert pharmacist support for patients with rare diseases, helping them receive high-quality care close to home.
Achieving this distinction required months of preparation, including the development of rigorous policies, clinical care plans and continuity-of-care connections with providers. It also reflects the dedication and collaboration of a multidisciplinary team, including specialty pharmacists, clinical pharmacists, providers, data analysts and many others, all working together to deliver exceptional patient care.
UC San Diego Health offers a variety of pharmacy services, including infusion and IV therapies, clinics for medication management and specialty pharmacy services.
